Fractured Brownstown Capital

Fractured Brownstown Capital

What we did

One of the fluted, stone column was pushed out of alignment when the capital was damaged. This caused numerous cracks to form from the base to the upper portion of the column. The cracks had to be ground out before stainless steel Heli-rods were vertically inserted in the fluted recesses and were then patched with restoration mortars. The broken capital was given a shoulder to patch into, pins were installed before the brownstone was patched and carved. Mineral based masonry stains were then applied as a faux finish to match the original appearance of the surrounding surfaces.
