B.R. Howard & Associates, Inc. was established in 1989 and incorporated six years later in 1995. Initially our company focused on the conservation of individual artifacts, collection condition surveys, and conservation assessments for small museums and historical societies. As opportunities were presented, B. R. Howard & Associates, Inc. continued to grow its staff and expand its facilities to meet the demands of its clients. Over the last several years the treatments and scope of our projects have grown to encompass macro-artifacts, sculpture, transportation collections, military collections, historic industrial equipment, architectural elements, and composite artifacts.
Our team is comprised of graduate trained conservators, interns, and highly skilled technicians specializing in metals, stone and masonry, wood, paper, textiles, and leather.
When required, we have established close working relationships with other independent conservators, which allow us to tailor the pool of knowledge and skills needed for individual treatments or conservation assessments of specialized and diverse collections.
B. R. Howard & Associates, Inc. continues to proudly serve small museums and historical societies having limited or no conservation professionals on staff, yet still having the responsibility of upholding professional standards of collections care. We have also had the honor of working on large projects for major institutions, museums, colleges, and state and federal government agencies across the country on-site as well in our conservation facility as artifact size and scope of project requires.
Our goal, as a company, is to continually broaden our body of knowledge and expand our areas of expertise through professional collaboration and continued education. In all treatment and other related endeavors, we make every effort to adhere to the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice. Additionally, we strive to implement many of the recent developments in conservation techniques and materials, balanced by common sense, in order to maintain manageable treatment costs for our clients.
